Jadi kalau Past Continuous Tense digunakan untuk pekerjaan yang dimulai dan sedang dilakukan di masa lampau, dan berlangsung hingga waktu pembicaraan.

Dalam kata lain, PCT mengekspresikan pekerjaan yang belum selesai di masa lampau.

Were they laughing out loud last night? (Apakah mereka tertawa terbahak-bahak tadi malam?)

Sedangkan Simple Past Tense digunakan jika pekerjaan telah selesai di masa lampau.
